The introduction by Szita (pp. 5-14) discusses labor service in Bor, Serbia. More than 6,000 Hungarian labor servicemen, mostly Jews, were taken there to work in the copper mines. In September 1944 the work stopped and forced marches followed. At Crevenka (present-day Crvenka), 680 Jews were massacred by the SS. The book consists of the accounts of six Jews - Gábor Sólyom, László Szauer, László Lindner, Pál Markovits, Miklós Perl, and István Kádár, one Jehovah's Witness and one Seventh-Day Adventist. Four of these men witnessed the Crevenka massacre. Three of them were liberated by Tito's partisans, and one escaped earlier, in December 1943. All of them describe the brutality of the guards and of certain Hungarian officers in Bor.
