End of the Line follows the fortunes and misfortunes of SUE ELLEN BUNCOMBE and her family, Mom, Dad, and twin brothers CYRUS and JASON as they journey from a failed tobacco farm to the Tourandel mill, one of the many textile mills scattered throughout eastern NC. Their adjustment to life in the mill village might have gone smoothly enough but for the mill owner’s beautiful daughter, TESS TOURANDEL, who was hotly pursued by both brothers. This impossible triangle resulted in the bloody murder of Tess by Jason who later killed his own brother, Cyrus, in a fit of jealous rage. After the murders, Sue Ellen was homeless until one of the mill families took her in. In an unlikely sequence of events, she was adopted into the Tourandel family, and lived a life of luxury until the lord of the manor got her pregnant. When she refused an abortion, she was cast out of the mansion, with a strict warning never to reveal the father of her child.
