Launched in 1981, the Busan Biennale provides a platform to share and discuss a wide range of alternative perspectives and is now the oldest contemporary art exhibition in Korea and has been gaining recognition domestically and internationally. The theme of Seeing in the dark is paradoxical in that it involves seeing in the dark, carrying the meaning of looking beyond established institutions or formality in a chaotic world, while also seeking different ways to view the world. The exhibition features around 350 artworks by 62 individual artists/teams (78 artists in total) from 36 countries.
