The proceedings of the symposium on [title], held in November-December 1992 at the MRS Fall Meeting in Boston, comprise papers by an international group of researchers and engineers on the improvement in silicon nitride ceramics based advances in the fundamental understanding of processing-phase equilibria-microstructure-mechanical properties relationships, coupled with the development of manufacturing and engineering practices capable of producing highly reliable components.
