The first edition of this reference work for both the student and the practising engineer appeared in 1929. This twelfth edition has been revised to include material detailing more recent knowledge and practice relating to engine control, fuels, carburation, super- and turbo-charging, and more. The established layout of the book is retained, with topics relating the engine, transmission and carriage unit dealt with in turn. Each chapter contains diagrams, sections, schematics and photographs.
