This 120-page catalogue, features Impressionist-inspired watercolors by Annie Gooding Sykes, one of America's finest women watercolorists from the turn of the century. Depicting flowers, figures, and landscapes, rendered in New England, the environs of Cincinnati, upstate New York, and Europe, Sykes created a rich body of works that reveal an affinity with the Maurice Prendergast. Her floral images are also aesthetically linked with the garden scenes created by Childe Hassam during his visits to Appledore, in the Isles of Shoals, in the 1890's. The catalogue consists of a biographical essay, over forty color illustrations, and entries by Peter Hastings Falk and Audrey Lewis. A forward by the artist's granddaughter, Christine Ayoub, and a preface by William H. Gerdts are also included.
