In the old Estate Office, amongst the remains of the Estate Archive, there were found several tea chests full of papers.Amongst boxes of cheque book stubs and receipts, account books, wages records, stud books etc, Ruth Doman came across a file containing the correspondence received for the year 1913.Whilst much of this is quotes for fencing, plumbing, farm equipment etc, some of the correspondence gives us a good insight into the trials and tribulations of being a landlord a hundred years ago, not to mention the trials and tribulations of being a tenant.
