Matamoras, Pennsylvania began its life as a borough in 1905 when it was incorporated. One hundred years later, in 2005, as part of the community's centennial celebration, The Matamoras Centennial Committee began compiling stories, interviews, vignettes and photographs that have never before been published and come from private collections. This book remembers how life unfolded in the small community that sites on the banks of the Delaware River. The stories and interviews reveal what it was like growing up in a small town in the days before computers, video games and the internet. Recollections include how a local diner sold cheeseburgers to a President, vignettes about the Matamoras Airport, Driller's Pond, Pauper's Beach, William Basham the barber, and how Matamoras boys responded to taunts from their Port Jervis counterparts across the Delaware River. 100 page soft cover.
