People were mildly sorry when Miss Beatrice Wansdyke was found dead alone at home but not unbearably surprised. After all, she'd been known for years to suffer from diabetes. The only strange thing was the state of her bank account. That didn't fit in at all with everyone's idea of the quiet chemistry mistress and her modest way of life. Somehow, not long before she died Miss Wansdyke had acquired a very great deal of money... This solitary clue was all there was to lead Inspector Sloan of the Berebury CID on to find that Miss Wansdyke's death had been far from natural. In fact she had been murdered in a particularly cunning way. Where there's a Will -- and Miss Wansdyke's Will was quite explicit -- there's usually a relative. Here there were several relatives and one beneficiary outside the family. Their reactions were just some of the many things that Inspector Sloan had to take into consideration in solving a very neat little problem.
