
Exhibition catalogue on the insertion of women in the Brazilian artistic sphere; emphasizing the training processes, they had access and their statement as professional artists. Contrary to the discourse of the time, that sought to restrict them to the domestic environment, to reduce them to the status of "amateurs", several painters and female sculptors performed works of historical importance. The female artistic production between 1880 and 1930, included the award to Abigail de Andrade in the 26th Exposição Geral de Belas-Artes in 1884, and, finally, the decade of 1930, with the so-called "rotinização" of modernism in Brazil, a time when women artists come to occupy a prominent place in Brazilian art.
