Welcome to the 2BeLikeChrist Bible study series. This series intends to summarize each chapter of the Bible and help readers understand God’s story piece by piece. This is the second book of the series, the book of Exodus.

The book of Exodus opens with Jacob’s descendants (the Israelites) in slavery in Egypt, but God intended to set them free. God selected a man named Moses to lead the growing nation of Israel out of slavery.

Pharaoh initially resisted God’s commands to let His people go, so the Lord sent 10 plagues on Egypt which devastated the nation. Finally, after the 10th plague, Moses led the huge multitude of people out of Egypt in the direction of Mount Sinai.

After walking through the Red Sea, Moses guided the people to Sinai, where God made a covenant with them. He promised the Israelites He would bless them if they obeyed His commands and would give them a home in the land of Canaan.

The final chapters of Exodus are a record of God’s laws for the nation and a recounting of the construction of the Tabernacle, a special tent where God’s presence dwelt amongst the Israelite camp.
