This Bible study seeks to raise biblical literacy around women’s stories in Scripture in fresh and relevant ways in order to encourage, equip, and empower women to embrace their gifts and callings and to equip congregations and communities to “build God’s church together.” The study can be done independently, in small group settings, or with your whole congregation.
Nine lessons, beautifully illustrated by Crystal Wright, explore the stories of biblical women and pairs, such as Phoebe, Elizabeth and Mary, Priscilla and Aquila, Deborah, and more. Each study includes a prayer, a Scripture passage, a deep dive into biblical context, practical applications, and discussion questions.

----
This study began from a desire to raise biblical literacy around women’s stories in Scripture in fresh and relevant ways, as part of our ministry’s focus on encouraging, equipping, and empowering women to embrace their gifts and callings and equipping congregations and communities to “build God’s church together.” Our guiding coalition, a cross-sector group of leaders from across the Reformed Church in America, came together in September 2019 to pray, vision, and innovate alongside our editor, the Rev. April Fiet. In true Holy Spirit fashion, a new thing sprang forth and we perceived it readily: a Bible study that embraced the “both/and” of our ministry, both #sheiscalled and #wearecalled. Things moved quickly after that. Dr. Travis West joined the effort as co-editor, and a diverse array of authors stepped up to contribute—theologians, pastors, professors, and the president of our historic seminary. Within a couple months’ time, this first volume was ready for final editing and things were nicely on track for a print edition to be ready in time for Women in Ministry Sunday on May 17, 2020.
Authors: Rev.
