What is preaching? Great question. A Google search produced 4,300,000 results in response to this question. Obviously, there is a lot of interest in preaching. Starting back a few years, the funeral plans have been underway to accept the fact preaching is dying, and may already be dead in some quarters. From Clyde Reid's book, "The Empty Pulpit," (1967), to articles fresh off today's religious journals presses, the post-preaching era is said to be upon us. In the midst of this doom and gloom, the author admits there is some poor to great preaching taking place today. In this dynamic book, written for this this time, the author draws on his 52-plus years of preaching, training preachers, researching, and writing about preaching to cover preaching from A to Z. He believes Christ intended for preaching to be a continual ministry for His disciples as recorded in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15, 16). He believes we need to imitate Jesus when He said, "Come, let's go into the next towns that I may preach there also because this is why I have come forth" (Mark 1:38).
