Of all the Persian poets, Mevlana Jalal-e-Din Mohammad Mevlavi Balkhi Rumi (1207-1273) is the most popular and widely read in North America. Best known as the founder of the Mevlevi order of "Whirling Dervishes," Rumi's poetry is considered a prime example of Sufi mysticism as well as appealing on a humanistic level. This book is the complete, unabridged edition with corrections by noted Rumi scholar R. A. Nicholson. The very rough translation from the Persian is that it is comprised of five dafter (volumes) and four additions. Includes an introduction detailing Rumi's geneaology, along with an index.
