
In 1776, George Washington called all Patriots to arms. Seventeen-year-old Mitchell Porter answered. His future was at stake - building a free nation, working his land, and founding a family with Penelope, the young woman he loved. First, Mitchell would have to prove himself in the Southern battles of Cowans Ford, Trading Ford, and many others. The Revolution had to be won. About the Author Al Rattan is a native Californian and was adopted by the "Written by Veterans" group. His son, Stephen, serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in US Army. Al served as a reserve sworn Deputy Sheriff Investigator for (28 years) of a large southern California Sheriff Department and honorably retired. He holds a BA in Business Administration for Sacramento State and an active California General Contractor's License. He is a retired Single-Engine-Multi Engine Instrument, Rotor Wing Commercial Pilot, and Flight Instructor. Al also has enjoyed a long-term career in commercial real estate development. He specializes in constructing and developing master-planned multi-family and senior communities. Al is married with two adult children and five grandchildren.
