Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island is the oldest park in British Columbia and is considered a critical part of the Island's protected wilderness. A master plan approved in 1993 defined the role of the park, established the objectives & desired actions to guide its management & development, and provided direction on a number of key park issues. Since that time, a number of areas have been identified as needing clarification and there is a need to add direction in the plan in a number of areas. This document presents a vision for the park for the 21st century and sets out the latest amendments to the 1993 plan in the following areas: the role of the park; zoning; relationships with First Nations; park resources (land, water, vegetation, wildlife, cultural resources); and visitor services, including access, management services, and outdoor recreation opportunities.
