This report provides an overview of British Columbia ozone levels based on data collected at 19 sites over 1986-97. Site selection was based in part on data availability and on obtaining as broad a geographical cross-section of the province as possible. Analyses are based on hourly ozone concentrations. Introductory sections explain environmental aspects of ozone, the sampling methodology, quality assurance procedures, measures of air quality, characteristics of ground-level ozone, and the types of information to be presented for each of the monitoring sites. The monitoring data are then set out by region: Vancouver Island, Howe Sound, lower mainland and Greater Vancouver, southern interior, Cariboo region, and the Omineca-Peace region. The final section compares hourly ozone data from selected sites during 1997.
