Assessment of fish response to perturbation can be based on a biologically integrated, mechanistic framework that examines the functional relationship between species and their environments. The overall effect of timber harvest on fish populations may then be predicted based on relative species tolerances to a range of potentially changing habitat conditions. This report evaluates seven major changes to stream & lake habitats associated with logging and identifies linkages to 12 associated functional traits displayed by 91 species or subspecies of fish found in British Columbia freshwaters. Fish taxa are then scored for trait sensitivities on the basis of information from the literature or expert opinion.
