In the interior forest regions of British Columbia the conventional method of harvesting timber with ground-based equipment necessitates the construction of skid roads and lands, which alters soil's physical and chemical properties. This report presents the results of a case study to determine the nature of the residual soil material after landing construction, data which is also applicable to skid roads. Soil physical and chemical data were collected to serve as a basis for the development of effective rehabilitation management practices. As well, information on conifer regeneration was gathered to assess the impact of landing construction on forest productivity.
