The use of Scandinavian scarifiers in Canadian boreal forests has become common with the introduction and acceptance of Swedish and Finnish spot scarifiers and disc trenchers. The Sinkkila was used as a patch scarifier in Finland for the last 20 years and in response to the interest in inverted humus mounds, it was further developed as a combination patch-mounding machine. This report details 2 areas treated by this scarifier/mounder during the 1986 field season. It outlines difficulties encountered in the trial period, and describes the results of the treatment and the potential for modification and use in the future.
