
British Columbia has received increasing national and international exposure in recent years due to the economic ties the province has forged in the Pacific Rim and the hosting of Expo '86 in Vancouver. One of the areas which has shown promising growth in recent years is the m̀eeting market.' To date, little information specific to B.C. has been collected about the potential of the meeting market, particularly the larger meetings that attract over 100 attendees. The purpose of this study is to inventory the B.C. meeting product and determine and identify demand sources within Canada and the United States which have the greatest potential of travelling to B.C. for meetings and which, therefore, represent the best market opportunities for the B.C. meeting product.
