Deep in the throes of 2020, Chapter 510 hosted a six-week poetry workshop for the fourth-grade class of Hoover Elementary in Oakland, California. Poet and teaching artist Perla Yasmeen Meléndez invited students to redefine the word justice for themselves. Justice-such a vast word. With a sharp focus on their own lives, these young poets distilled justice into 26 poems now illustrated, translated into Spanish, and printed on postcards to be read and mailed.
