"When they get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, they will become corrupt as in Europe." - Thomas Jefferson What do you remember about the Founding Fathers from history class? Do you remember reading over some of their letters? Or how about even a glimpse at The Federalist Papers? Anything by Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams? Like most of us, probably not. In the third instalment of the Pop History series, I present to you quotes from the Founders in regards to the Militia & Military, Economics of Government, and Democracy. Some of what they said could be considered shocking to some. What I learned personally was surprising in some ways. Yet for figures so important in American History, most of us still haven't really read much from them, so I give to you, America In The Founder's Words.
