Author Description

The first book of poetry by the great Tang dynasty poet Du Fu (712-770). Completed by the time he was thirty, his greatness is already evident here in such poems as the famous View of Tai Shan, Mongol Horse, and The Painted Falcon. These translations are the only ones in English that fully unfold the meaning of the sometimes delphic Chinese text, and read as genuine poetry.
