Potential acid input (PAI) is used as a monitoring index, which is calculated from concentrations of several acid ions minus those of several alkaline ions in both wet and dry deposition. Alberta Environment altogether had twelve stations to monitor the PAI field. Among the twelve stations, nine are the continuous long-term stations from 1993 to current. This research assesses Alberta's current acid deposition monitoring network of nine stations and designs future networks with additional stations. The annual PAI data of the current nine stations from 1993-2006 are used in this study.--Includes text from document.
