In 2007, a group of poets traveled San Luis Obispo County, California, to write poems at locations chosen because of their beauty, ecological or cultural value, and because their very natureis or has been threatened by human actions. The result of their yearlong effort is this collection of poems, presented in seven distinct voices. Those of us who live on the Central Coast are blessed to live in a community with a remarkable and diverse natural environment. Poems For Endangered Places reminds us of both the beauty and the vulnerability of the Central Coast. These poems inspire us to pay attention to our precious and vulnerable coastlines, hillsides, farmlands and small towns and protect them for future generations.
