What The Ant Saw is a beautifully crafted portrait of poetic art of life in its rawest form.A stirring debut collection of poems of life lessons and complexity of humanity, with the lessons from ants, the voice of my ancestors, a tale of uncounted steps; and each was told with metaphorical voice, tenderness, and poetic force that will make your head spin. Reviews of What the Ant Saw What the Ant Saw was delightful. Every word of it made the heart leap with songs of love, joy, and hope. It was as if each stroke of your pen leaped right into the center of the reader's soul and walked with them hand in hand to the landscapes, sunrises, and linguistics of Nigeria. Voice of my Ancestors, stay with Me, September 23, and Epigram of Appreciation were my personal favorites. There are others but to list them all is like giving away the entire ending of one's current mystery novel. You have to read the words and reread them to fully grasp the brilliance of their subtleties. A warm beverage and blanket are also required to adequately appreciate the journey the poems take the reader on. The wisdom and warmth of the parents were lovingly tender. The notes throughout spoken in bold Nigerian flare were enjoyable. What the ant Saw hit all of the high notes of the human experience. It is my belief that is what poetry is supposed to do. I was transformed into another country, time, and space. I was lifted out of the present distractions and struggles of living. I highly recommend Steve Anc's latest work. If you are looking for something to escape to this book of poems is the perfect mental vacation. We are transported to another plain from the vantage point of the ant. What we end up seeing and experiencing during our excursion are life lessons we were never expecting to fill a famished and dehydrated soul. 5-Star Rating!!!! Chyrel J.
