This volume explores the role and accomplishments of the British Medical Research Council in the first half of the twentieth century. It reviews work undertaken by this important research body, as well as information on the organization's relationship with the Ministry of Health, the Colonial Office, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, and industry and pharmaceutical companies.
