China's social and economic changes, and its increasing global influence, have given rise to a plethora of books. This compendium highlights China's different themes, such as social welfare, gender, ethnicity, and the existence, role, and performance of the Communist Party and the State. The book includes well-researched and detailed accounts of social changes in China. Since the founding of the Communist Party of China in 1921, the relations among China's many ethnic groups have undergone incessant changes.
