In 1992/93, a clam market study was conducted to promote the orderly development of the British Columbia wild and cultured clam industry, to describe the existing and potential markets for B.C. clams in the United States, Japan, South East Asia, and Europe, to assess price determinants, and to assess marketing opportunities and constraints in the B.C. industry. The main steps in the study included a consultation process with industry, a literature trade statistics review, a survey of B.C. clam processors, a survey of 24 seafood buyers in North America, and a visit to the 1993 Boston International Seafood Show.
