This is the first textbook of intensive care designed specifically to provide clinicians and nurses with clear and concise treatment protocols. The focus throughout is on management of the critically ill patient using easily followed guidelines, notes, and up-to-date references. Altogether, over 30 common problems are dealt with, including acute respiratory failure, shock, hemodiafiltration, and myocardial infarction. The algorithms provide an easy source of reference in the ICU as well as elsewhere in the hospital and are invaluable teaching aids for junior hospital doctors, nurses, and undergraduates.
