Product Description Most textbooks of physiology deal with idealized young adult physiology in temperate climate at sea level. Other stages of life and other environments are often covered cursorily, if at all. These more stressful circumstances and conditions are not only important in their own right, but canalso help us to understand normal mechanisms more fully. Therefore, this text is complementary to the major teaching texts in physiology while still containing information essential to a thorough understanding of the subject. This book is based on a volume entitled Variations in Human Physiologywritten by the same authors in 1985. The present book is a complete revision and update of that earlier volume. Several sections have been considerably expanded, and chpaters on puberty and menopause have been added. About the Author R. M. Case, Brackenbury Professor of Physiology, Department of Physiological Sciences, University of Manchester. J. M. Waterhouse, Reader, Department of Physiological Sciences, University of Manchester.
