
Product Description Korean and American policymakers and scholars at the 1995 meeting of the Korea-United States Twenty-First Century Council explored new dilemmas and opportunities presented by recent developments in Korea. In this volume they examine reunification, the impact of North Korean-US nuclear accord, trade frictions between Korea and the United States, and the role the two countries could play in the Asia Pacific, particularly through the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. About the Author C. Fred Bergsten, senior fellow and director emeritus, was the founding director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics (formerly the Institute for International Economics) from 1981 through 2012. He is serving his second term as a member of the President's Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations and was co-chairman of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the United States–India Trade Policy Forum, comprising the trade ministers of those two countries, during 2007–14. Il SaKong was Chairman and CEO of the Institute for Global Economic. He has been Special Consultant to the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC since 1989 and is a member of the Korea-US Wiseman Council and Cohost of the Korea-United States Twenty-First Century Council.
