
Social change and challenges of women subjectsThirteen female scholars who are active in various fields such as sociology, history, philosophy, English literature, political science, Korean literature, and psychology reconsider the existing paradigm of humanities and social sciences, This is a book that discusses womens image and culture and criticizes social structural conditions that cause sexual inequality. Part 1 contains two main arguments. First, it summarizes the traces of the scholarship that has been going on in the feminist viewpoint, and strongly urges the necessity to reinterpret and reconstruct the scholarship based on the male perspective and experience. Second, it addresses the key issues that are being debated within the feminist camp, such as the category of sex gender. The concept of gender that emerged since the 1970s has been useful in rejecting biological determinism and fatalism of womens oppression and in identifying the socio-cultural character of oppression. In addition, we can look at the issue within the feminist camps around womens work and labor, especially care-giving work. Second, cultural change and the reappearance of women, in particular in various patriarchal cultures, The social discourse and the popular culture mechanisms which stigmatize the deviant femininity and criticize them. Part 3 The social structure change and the quality of life of women are composed of articles analyzing the position of women and the reality of life in the present stage social change represented by globalization and informatization. Based on this analysis, it is an opportunity to reaffirm the social position of women living in the 21st century and to evaluate the degree of womens emancipation.
