
This is the first volume of this set.. The first Russians who set foot on California soil in 1803 were businessmen Afanasii Shvetsov and Timofei Tarakanon. After several visits Russians founded Fort Ross (1812-1841) which became an outpost of one more Russian colony managed by the Russian-American Company (RAC) in North America. This two-volume publication includes 162 documents about the Russian colony in California, its leaders and operations. It was prepared by scholars of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology (Moscow). Ten introductory articles. The current second volume covers 1803-1850.
