Two bodies of color work dealing with the landscape of Los Angeles are intertwined in this intriguing, oddly Romantic book. One grouping captures desolate details in the dead of night, evoking feelings of surveillance and discomfort. In contrast, daytime photos show the edges of the city, where urban wasteland meets undeveloped desert in the burned-out light typical of Southern California. With an essay by art historian Kai Uwe Schierz.
