Kavanagh (Thaw) has been asked to prosecute Ray West (Graham), a former law enforcement officer turned vigilante. West was the driver of a car which hit Ryan Javis (Roberts) and critically injuring Ryan. Jackie Javis, the mother of Ryan, refuses to believe it was an accident. Kavanagh is not convinced that he can win, but Jackie's emotional appeal convinces him to take the case.
