The purpose of this report is to provide detailed arguments & conclusions on the potential for high levels of aircraft noise to be linked to stress & cardiovascular disease. The report is based on examination of relevant English language reviews and journal & conference papers published from 1975 to 1999. Results from a limited number of traffic noise studies & one aircraft noise paper around a military airport are also included. Endpoints considered in the analysis for childhood studies were resting blood pressure & stress hormone levels. In adult populations, endpoints were hypertension & ischemic heart disease.
