My heroes are soldiers, whether professional or citizen soldiers. With World War II veterans dying at the rate of 1,000 a day, I felt it worthwhile to look into a small corner of the country to see what I could find. I found thatI could tell the story of every major campaign of WWII in just ONE neighborhood. In doing so, I found heroes on every street corner. I hope this book honors them.
