
About the Author Li Yu, a licensed engineer in the USA, is bilingual, receiving the MS degree in the USA and the bachelor's degree in China. In the past, she designed bridge, structure and foundation, analyzed traffic data, computerized laboratory testing data, researched on slope stability, probability, and queue theory, and initiated the ignition testing methodology for highway materials. In 1997, she, as a pro se, started to get involved in the civil rights litigation, having an opportunity to learn American court system. The case was finally settled, but the author also felt the corruption of the system-the system was designed solely to richen American lawyers and discriminate against non-lawyers. In 1999, her ex-husband Wei Wu wrongfully passed away in Texas while the author was doing her PhD in another state. While investigating his unfortunate death, the author went through the American court system again, from Texas state court to the federal court, from trial court to the U.S. Supreme Court, carrying out nine appeals. In every step of the legal process, the author experienced discrimination again from the system for not being a lawyer, which motivated her to write this book.
