It is a speech compilation of Buddhism Chan from late Tang dynasty, Five dynasties and the beginning of Southern Song, including 40 schools under Huairang in Southern Song dynasty, such as Mazu, Baizhang, Linji, Yunmen, Zhenjing, Foyan and Dongshan, etc., recording the words and deeds of Chan masters. Therefore, it is a rare book for the research on the history of Chan.
