Peace and Conflict Studies, as a separate academic discipline, has already established itself and gained attention from students, researchers, policymakers and general people across the world. The changing nature of world politics, conflicts, human rights violations, and environmental challenges have motivated us to rigorously study and research the issues related to peace and conflict for a peaceful and sustainable world. Two decades have already passed since Peace and Conflict Studies is being studied since its foundation as a separate Department at the University of Dhaka in 1999. Thus, the time has come to look back on how the department was founded and evaluate what it has accomplished in education and development, and what strategies need to be taken to enable this department to face the new challenges and meet the requirements of the world of tomorrow. This book is our attempt to investigate and present the answers to the above questions. The Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, with its updated and modern curriculum, has been providing quality education to students and conducting cutting edge research. Its graduates have already been placed in various positions at home and abroad and they continue to contribute to building the nation and making a peaceful world. The faculty has conducted original research and consequently contributed to the policy formulation in Bangladesh.
